Welcome to all of our new and returning members!

Welcome to the Harmony School of Advancement PTO!  We are so excited that so many families signed up to be a part of the PTO this year.

There are lots of opportunities to get involved with the school and the PTO.  For example, we have a few empty PTO board positions that we would like to fill.  These positions are Assistant Treasurer, Volunteer Liaison, Parliamentarian and Hospitality Coordinator.    Descriptions of these positions are included at the bottom of this message.  If you are interested in filling one of these positions, please email the board at hsaptoshare@gmail.com

Three of our board members will be leaving at the end of this school year as their children will be graduating in 2016, so it is important that we fill these four positions so that the PTO will continue to be a strong part of the school.

We are interested in hearing from you all on PTO meeting days and time. We’ve heard suggestions that we move the meetings to 8:00 AM to make it more convenient.  Please vote for your preferred day and time via the Google Survey at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1YToi1cW90PA49pP4B5FbBBFcWB-VWvwZvOcMyzkbd-M/viewform?c=0&w=1.

We will compile the day and time preferences and then schedule a PTO general meeting for after the Labor Day holiday.

Board Position Descriptions

Assistant Treasurer– Perform financial duties in absence of the Treasurer. Be the second signer on all disbursements. Research and lead the effort to gain and maintain 501(3)c status for the PTO. (Effort: Hours required attaining 501(3)c status, then 4-6 hours per month)

Parliamentarian– Act as a consultant to assure that meetings and processes are conducted in accordance with bylaws; advise on parliamentary procedures using Robert’s Rules of Order; bring current copy of By-Laws and procedures to all meetings. Lead the nominating committee and implement the election of board members. Parliamentarian is responsible for publicity and keeping the official history of the PTO. (Effort: Several hours at election time, then 4-6 hours per month).

Campus Support Liaison – Act as a liaison between the PTO and the faculty and staff at the school. Identify opportunities for the PTO to assist the faculty and staff and bring these opportunities to the board for discussion and action. (Effort: 2 hours per week at school).

Hospitality Coordinator – Schedule all teacher and staff appreciation events with faculty and staff at the school. Coordinate food and beverage donations with PTO members. Estimate budget for each event. (Effort: 4-6 hours per semester).
